Loom Knitting

To register for classes offered at the Maple Grove Michaels store, sign up directly at the store location at least 24 hours prior to the class date and time. Classes not meeting the two-person minimum may need to be rescheduled. You will receive a supplies list including a discount coupon from the store upon registration.

Round Loom Basics I	Get started using the round Knifty Knitter looms. Learn to cast on, knit using the basic e-wrap stitch, and remove your work from the loom. Make a baby hat that you will finish in class. Learn to cast on, knit using the basic e-wrap stitch, turn up a brim, change colors and remove your work from the loom with the gathered bind off. Round Loom Basics II	Learn the stockinette, purl and slipped edge stitches, how to knit flat pieces on the round loom, and a flat removal method. Start a scarf, afghan, belt, or other flat piece project. Prerequisite: Round Loom Basics I or experience with casting on, knitting, and binding off on round looms. Round Loom Beyond Basics	Learn advanced stitch patterns on the round looms. Choices include basketweave, lace, bobbles, elongated stitches, cables, shell stitch and many others. Students frequently repeat this class to learn different stitch patterns each time. Prerequisite: Round Loom Basics II or experience knitting flat pieces using knit and purl stitches on round looms. Long Loom Techniques	Learn the basics of casting on and knitting, and removing your work from the purple Knifty Knitter rectangle loom and the new Knifty Knitter long loom set. Woven Top Hat	Learn to use the loom for weaving as well as knitting! This fashionable hat has a woven top, knit sides and a garter stitch edge, so you'll learn the purl stitch and the flat bind off, too. Felted Slippers	Make custom fit slippers as flat pieces on the round loom. Learn the cable cast-on, stockinette (flat knit) stitch, and how to decrease stitches on the round loom. Lacy Shawl	This shawl is perfect for prom, weddings, or a day at the office when the A/C is up too high. Make it as fancy or functional as you like based on the yarn you choose. Learn to make garter stitch edges, to add a new yarn skein in the middle of the project and the technique for large stitches. Felted Striped Purse	Make a fun felted purse to match every outfit! Makes a great gift, too! Learn to knit color stripes, make a buttonhole, the flat bind off, and sewing a flat bottom.
